Jury Chair Prize: Space Trash Signs

Yasu Sasaki, global CCO of Dentsu, knows craft excellence and innovative thinking when he sees it. Put together they can change how we see the world… and in Space Trash Signs, one of the two special Jury Chair prizes he personally chose within this year’s Cresta Awards, he found that winning combination.

Of the project by Serviceplan Group for the start-up company Privateer Space Inc., Sasaki said:  ‘This is a great example of how, as a creative, we can use technology to make social issues that were previously invisible more beautifully visible, so that everyone can become aware of them.’

Space Trash Signs visualises the developing crisis of waste objects in space. There are now more than 160 million objects orbiting the Earth that can damage satellites and effectively threaten the daily live of everybody, destroying communications, agricultural research, and much more. The unique site visualises the consequences of space debris, creating 10 ‘constellations’ using a custom Ai model that relate to potential areas of critical damage.
