Notes: Fortnite is the most popular eSport in the world, played by 250 million gamers for an average of between 6 and 10 hours a week. At the same time, we are seeing a wave of young people marching in the streets and taking to social media to urge governments worldwide to do something about climate change. Highly aware of environmental issues, this community of young citizens, who will inherit the planet left by the older generations, is determined to make its voice heard. Young audiences are difficult to reach with traditional advertising and don’t react well to intrusive brand messages. But we’ve also noticed a global trend for gamers to raise awareness of and funds to fight inequality, animal cruelty and so on. We wanted to channel this energy toward climate issues – and WWF France wanted to amplify and carry the voice of this already engaged community.
