Diego Machado
Chief Creative Officer
AKQA
As CCO of AKQA, Diego is recognized as one of the main faces of a new generation of creative leaders. In 2014, at just the age of 26, he co-founded AKQA’s São Paulo studio with Hugo Veiga. Since then they have worked with clients like Google, Netflix and Nike; and for artists like Usher, Lady Gaga, Elton John and Baco Exú do Blues. AKQA São Paulo aims to reimagine the future of creative shops. It’s human and community oriented, a place where creative-minded people from advertising, music, art, gastronomy or the performance arts are all welcome to co-create with AKQA employees. The co-creation spirit is extended to clients and the global network. The dynamic of work, people and art at the Casa is also a beacon inside WPP. It aims to be considered the happiest office in the world. Diego was nominated as New Blood by D&AD, Creatives You Should Know by Adweek, Young Innovator by The Drum and Google, the most awarded art director in the world and Young Lions by Cannes Festival 2013. The same year, his work Real Beauty Sketches for Dove achieved the Titanium Grand Prix in Cannes. It became the most watched ad in history and named the Best Ad by Time magazine. In 2019, along with his team and clients, Diego was awarded two Grand Prix at Cannes, for Air Max Graffiti Stores (Media) and Bluesman (Entertainment for Music).
