(World Design Capital 2012 Helsinki wanted to make those not naturally interested in design realize that design is anything that makes things work better, that design is all around us every day, that design affects us all and that you can have an effect on it by sharing ideas on how to make things work better with the World Design Capital mobile application. At the core of the marketing communication is a movable café with design (tables, chairs, music and spoken service) anybody can remotely control on the web in real-time. All of the different elements of the campaign (PR, tv, print, outdoor and banners) directed people to the café while also communicating the chosen messages. In the first seven weeks of the campaign the youdesign.fi site had 132,121 unique visitors, with an average time spent on the site of 2,52 minutes. Kauko was mentioned on national TV News and has been the topic of conversation on many blogs and received a lot of attention in other media around the world as well. The Kauko video about the remotely controlled café was the most watched video on the BBC website during week 5)

(DNB is Norway’s largest bank and the main sponsor of the countrys most famous choir, The Norwegian Broadcasting Boys Choir. We wanted to promote the sponsorship in a relevant setting for the banks costumers. So, we decided to let the choir do what they do best: Sing. In December 2011 the DNB telebank became the media. The menu is usually read by an automatic, programmed and very plain mans voice. From December 1st till 27th the Norwegian Broadcasting Boys Choir sang every word of the automatic telebank if you called DNB. During this period the telebank was called more than 2 million times (the population of Norway is 4,9 million). It was not only by the banks costumers who called, the word spread and people wanted to hear the choir singing an automatic menu, which is usually a bore. Merry paycheck everyone!)

(We turned the store into a movie and invited the public to play the lead role as burglar in a classic heist scene. Inspired by Entrapment, Ocean's Eleven, Mission Impossible and The Italian Job we installed green lasers, motion detectors, strobe lights, alarms, smoke etc. A late evening after closing, you could, with support from a partner at the computer, turn off the motions detectors, crack the code to the alarm system from Pause hijacked website. Among the stolen goods was a 6000 dollars LED TV, headphones, DVDs and generous discounts at Pause.
Direct sales on home cinema products increased 58% after the campaign.)
